Our Beautiful Town

Prince Albert cottage is on De Beers street, home to other well loved and looked after historical cape Dutch houses. The town has an eclectic mix of Victorian, Cape Dutch and typical old Karoo style architecture. Prince Albert is affectionately known as “the jewel of the Karoo” and for good reason! Church street which is Prince Alberts main street is a five-minute walk up Deurdrift street. There you will find art galleries, eateries, pubs and quaint shops. The Fransie Pienaar Museum portrays the cultural and natural history of Prince Albert and the district and holds a large collection of artifacts, nostalgia and paintings. During March every year, witblits is distilled in the antique copper still and sold in the museum. The Swartburg pass and Meiringspoort are ranked up there in the world’s top ten mountain passes. For the more intrepid there is the road to De Hell. Whether Cycling, biking, hiking or just bumbling along in your car these special places need to be on your bucket list. There’s something for everyone in Prince Albert, and at the heart of it all, the knowledge that you are quite isolated, yet secure is a lovely feeling and a rare one in this day and age
